The Beginning: Madrid

2016.  The first post of the new year and from Madrid no less.  With a longing for travel, I finally found myself in Europe for the first time a week ago. I’m currently in Madrid, Spain where I’ll be studying abroad for the next five months, continuing to blog about fashion and my travels.  I think my body may have finally reached equilibrium, recovering from the jet lag and overwhelming emotions from moving to a new country. My first week was spent adapting to my only Spanish-speaking host family and making my way around the nearby streets and attractions. An urban feel with a plethora of shops and fascinating buildings – I’ve begun to grow more comfortable in the city that will be my home until Spring. Colorful buildings lend a sense of familiarity and remind me of New Orleans, and the history you can feel in the city is lovely and subconsciously enchanting.  I was also able to see a few attractions including: Plaza de Espana, Museo de Historia de Madrid, the Royal Palace of Madrid, and Museo de Prado to name a few.

My look below consists of two vintage pieces. I chose to wear a loose-fitting button down shirt with a faux-leather jacket and ballet flats. I accessorized with a vintage scarf and Gucci bag to finish the look.  Check my instagram @thisisitt_ to find more weekly/daily style and travel shots.

Oh this is so lovely, I’m so happy for you & excited to follow your journey studying abroad. That was always something I wanted to do, but never made it happen during my undergrad years, so I shall live vicariously through you, lol. Looking forward to more posts from Madrid, and I’m loving the vintage scarf!
